I found this lovely picture of Sid and Joan Carrying On on the set of 'Henry' - they look like they're having such fun. It made me smile and I wanted to share it.

For me, this moment from Carry On Doctor pretty much sums up the Carry Ons. Anyone got a better moment? And as for that laugh!!! :-)

Kenneth Williams often spoke of his friends Tom and Clive in his diaries. I always wondered what they looked like and in the Christopher Stevens' biography 'Born Brilliant' there's a photo, which I've reproduced here.

Carry On Darkly.

Just rewatched Carry On Darkly on Youtube. Admittedly, many of the Carry On stars had their crosses to bear but I can't help but feel that the makers of this documentary were trying to make their lives appear completely angst-ridden and miserable. They had their moments, yes I agree, but there was also a lot of fun and love there too. Just a load of muck raking if you ask me!
I've added a gratutious 'sexy' Barbara Windsor photo to counteract the misery of Carry On Darkly. :-)

Carry On Soaping?

In my little fantasy world I have this dream where a new Carry On film is made. Yes I know the bulk of the original cast are long gone and that Columbus was pretty dire but I live in hope. If I was making it I would set it backstage on a soap opera and call it Carry On Soaping. I think that that setting would give it plenty of scope and the perfect opportunity for Ms Windsor to head the cast list as an ageing actress returning to a long running soap that she left several years earlier. What would be your setting for a new Carry On film?

So, here I am again. I admit to not having been a very good blog keeper up until now but that is going to change. I hereby promise to regularly update this blog with AT LEAST one post a week.
